The steam distribution system connects the steam generator to the steam consumer.
This Module will investigate ways for transporting steam from a central source to a place of application. A boiler house or the outflow from a co-generation plant could be the central source. The boilers can be primary fuel boilers or waste heat boilers that use exhaust gases from high-temperature processes, engines, or even incinerators. Whatever the source, an effective steam distribution system is required if steam of the appropriate quality and pressure is to be provided to the steam-using equipment in sufficient quantities. Installation and maintenance of the steam system are critical challenges that must be addressed at the design phase.
